The American Firewood Producers and Distributors Association (AFPDA) was developed to create a national standard and certification program for the production and manufacturing of firewood. The number of wood-borne pests has been steadily increasing, and the AFPDA was set up to help protect consumers and businesses alike.
The American Firewood Producers and Distributors Association exists for the health and safety of our forests and for the protection of consumers of firewood. The association was created as a result of the concern by industry leaders regarding a variety environmental conditions.
The AFPDA is committed to protecting the environment from the spread of wood-borne pests. As a consumer you can do you part to help keep wood-borne pests, as well as molds and mildews from from infesting your neighborhood and home by knowing the origin of your firewood and whether or not it was treated.
